The Jellyfish Family Tree Part 9: Puffy Ami Yumi, Where's Andy?

After several years, I have picked up this series where I left off, with some speculation of the role that Andy Sturmer played on Puffy Ami Yumi's Nice (2003).

To go back for a refresher, the first post is here.
The previous entry is here.

  1. Sturmer was the lennon to Manning's MacCartney.

  2. The new post Jellyfish project is The Lickerish Quartet featuring Roger Joseph Manning Jr, Eric Dover, and Tim Smith...

But although the majority of the ingredients are there the lead single disappoints and imho it's due to the grit of Andy Sturmer being missing.

Jellyfish was pop perfection and maybe can never happen again, a bit like The Beatles. Small sonic flashes showed in their solo material but nothing consistently wonderful.

The Sturmer/Manning axis is needed as much as the Lennon) McCartney one
