Welcome to the Spin-Off Tournament, a featured program of Dr. Spin’s Pharmacy — a space where deep listening and musical exploration have been prescribed since 2010.
What Is the Spin-Off?
The Spin-Off is a year-long album tournament where I listen
to over 300 full albums across genres and eras. Each week, I select 8–12 albums
and place them in 4–6 head-to-head matchups. I evaluate each album on
creativity, production, concept, consistency, musicianship, and impact. The winner of each matchup
advances to the next round.
At the end of the year, the strongest contenders form my
personal Top 20 Albums of the Year. Alongside this, a parallel Viewer’s Choice
bracket is formed by polling followers and friends through weekly votes.
